Save Your Dental Health with Allen Root Canal Therapy Today

January 10, 2015

Are you struggling with tooth pain and sensitivity? This could be a clear indication of a severely infected tooth. Teeth that have become infected will eventually need to be extracted if left untreated. To save your natural tooth from removal, you can elect to have root canal therapy treatment. Tooth removal can cause a brand new set of dental problems and will ultimately be more costly and damaging to your dental health. To eliminate tooth discomfort and restore your dental health quickly, make an appointment with Drs. Michael and Laura Ryan for the root canal therapy you need today. Ryan Dental Group proudly restores smiles daily throughout North Dallas, Allen, Lucas, Parker, McKinney, Fairview, Plano, and the surrounding communities.

What Is Root Canal Therapy?

Root canal therapy is necessary when the inner pulp of your tooth is decayed or infected with bacteria.  In order to save the tooth, and alleviate inflammation, the inner pulp, nerves, bacteria, and decay are removed. Since the inner pulp is only needed during the development stage of your tooth, the empty space can be filled with specially medicated disinfectants and sealants to restore the tooth to its full form and function.

How Is Root Canal Therapy Completed?

Root canal therapy usually requires one to two appointments to complete. To start, Dr. Ryan will numb your tooth with a local anesthetic and place a rubber dam around the tooth to keep the area dry and free of saliva.  An access opening is then made at the crown of the tooth and a series of root canal files are placed into the opening to gently remove the infected the pulp, nerve tissue, and bacteria.  Once your tooth has been thoroughly cleaned, it will be shaped, filled, and sealed with either a permanent or temporary filling. Finally, your tooth will need to be restored with a dental crown or cap.  This will protect the tooth from future fracturing, and restore its natural functioning. Practicing good oral hygiene and keeping your semi-annual dental visits will serve well to prolong the life of your root canal treated teeth.

No one thing works independently from the other, and it is important to make sure everything that contributes to your dazzling smile is healthy and strong. Many people may not know this, but your gums contribute a large amount in the overall health of your entire smile. Often put on the back burner, your gums are play a vital role, and when they are compromised, the result is never good. By offering periodontal disease therapy to their patients, Dr. Laura Ryan and Dr. Michael Ryan are able to make sure their patients’ smiles are always looking fantastic!

Periodontal disease therapy accounts for about 70 percent of tooth loss, and can cause many negative effects on your body. If left untreated, periodontal disease has the potential to cause or play a role in bone loss, heart disease, stroke, dementia, and etcetera. Some signs of periodontal disease are swollen or red gums, gums that bleed when you brush or floss, and gums that are sensitive.

Root Canal Therapy Can Save Your Smile

April 2, 2014

she hurt so bad.Living with pain is never easy, but tooth pain can turn your world upside down. It is one thing for pain to come and go, but when it is constant, the effects can be crippling. You may think that there is no respite to your pain, or that the process of getting it handled will hurt as much as the toothache itself. Fortunately, the doctors at Ryan Dental Group are able to alleviate your tooth pain by performing root canal therapy.

Root canals have gotten a bad reputation over the years with people thinking that they cause more harm than actually alleviate it. Nothing could be further from the truth, and it is important that people realize that instead of going through life in unnecessary pain.

A root canal needs to be performed when the pulp of the tooth has been infected. This can happen when there has been a crack in the tooth, a cavity, dental trauma, and many other reasons. The way we address the situation is removing the infected pulp from the tooth. We then fill the tooth, put antibiotics on it, and place a crown on top to prevent any further harm from taking place.

One of the reasons why root canal therapy is so important is because if a severe tooth ache is left untreated, it can start wreaking havoc on the rest of your mouth, as well as your body. If the infection starts to touch your nerves, it can really start affecting you in a negative way. It is important to take care of any dental pain you may have as soon as possible, and Ryan Dental Group is just the place to have that done!
